Krk: an island without a ferry
Krk is the largest Croatian island and the only major island connected to the mainland by a bridge (toll-free since 2020). It also has an airport in Rijeka. The island atmosphere without reliance on ferries makes it the most practical "island" purchase for Czechs: approximately 8.5 hours by car from Prague.
Prices (summer 2026, indicative)
~2 800-4 000 €/m²; most expensive Malinska and the town of Krk (new builds by the sea 4 000+), cheaper in the island's interior (Vrbnik, Dobrinj and surrounding villages) and the south around Baška outside the first line.
Where to look
- Malinska and Njivice - west coast, mildest climate, strongest new-build market; first choice for most buyers.
- Town of Krk - historic centre + modern districts, year-round life, marinas.
- Punat - at one of the largest marinas on the Adriatic; interesting for yachtsmen.
- Baška - a famous beach on the southern part of the island; beautiful, but more isolated in winter due to the bora wind.
- Vrbnik, Dobrinj - stone houses in villages, lowest prices on the island.
Rental
